Hasselblad releases Mac version of Phocus 1.0
Hasselblad this week has released v1.0 of Phocus for Mac, its all-new pro workflow and RAW conversion software for certain Hasselblad and Imacon digital cameras and backs. The software is free to registered users of compatible models.

Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update for Mac further extends RAW file support
Apple has also today posted Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.1, which adds support for seven camera RAW file formats - including the EOS Rebel XSi/450D - in addition to the twelve newly supported in OS X 10.5.3.

Aperture-related fixes, new RAW file support among changes in Mac OS X 10.5.3, released today
Apple today has released Mac OS X 10.5.3, an update to its computer operating system that among other changes "[a]ddresses compatibility issues with Aperture 2" related to the use of the Time Machine backup feature and adds RAW decode support for twelve additional digital cameras and backs, including the Nikon D60 and several Hasselblad and Leaf models.

Epson USA introduces Stylus Photo R2880 printer
Epson USA has unveiled the Stylus Photo R2880, 13-inch carriage desktop inkjet printer that is the latest model from Epson to add Vivid Magenta to its set of Ultrachrome K3 ink colours. The R2880 features an Advanced MicroPiezo AMC print head fed by eight pigment ink colour lines (which means it's necessary to swap Matte Black and Photo Black inks when switching between certain paper types) and a resolution of 5760 x 1440 dpi.

TV commercial shot with Canon EOS-1D Mark III
TV stations in the U.S. recently began airing a Canon EOS Rebel XSi commercial with a twist: the majority of the 30 second spot was shot with multiple EOS-1D Mark III cameras for a powerful visual effect when the photos - shot simultaneously from different angles by ten different photographers - are sequenced together. Phase One releases Capture One 4.1
Phase One has released Capture One 4.1 for Mac and Windows, an update to its RAW conversion and image editing application for digital SLRs and medium format digital cameras and backs. The new version adds the ability to process RAW files shot with the Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D, Nikon D60, Mamiya ZD and ZD back as well as several Pentax and Sony models. It also introduces a watch folder feature and new lens correction and tethering functionality.

Canon Europe offering free warranty extension on EOS-1D Mark III, EOS-1Ds Mark III
Earlier this week, Canon Europe announced a no-charge warranty extension program for the EOS-1D Mark III and EOS-1Ds Mark III. Under the terms of the program, these models' standard one year warranty will be extended to two years, with no change in the level of warranty coverage. Chuck Westfall, Technical Advisor at Canon USA, says that there are no plans to offer a similar program in the U.S.
