| Canon EOS 5D beginning to ship in Europe, Canada |
| The Canon EOS 5D appears to be landing at dealers in parts of Europe, based on the number of enthusiastic first-use reports we've received since September 24 from photographers in the UK, France and Germany. We've also heard from two pro photo retailers in Canada that their initial allotments of Canon's newest double-digital megapixel digital SLR are to arrive today (along with the first EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM stock also). In the U.S., shipping of the EOS 5D is still expected to commence next week, says Chuck Westfall, Director of Media & Customer Relationship at Canon USA. | Adobe releases Camera Raw 3.2 for Photoshop CS2 |
| Adobe has today released v3.2 of the Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop CS2. The new version adds official support for the Nikon D2Hs, D70s and D50, as well as Leica's Digital-Modul-R back and the Hasselblad H2D. In addition, D2X owners will notice that Camera Raw now fully honours the As Shot white balance (WB), owing to the inclusion of code supplied by Nikon to interpret the encoded WB information in D2X NEF files. |

| Nikon issues service advisory for D2H, D70 |
| Nikon today has issued a service advisory for the D2H and D70. The advisory states that Nikon will repair, at no charge to the owner, cameras that are exhibiting the malfunctions described. Specifically, affected D2H cameras will experience "(1) a freezing of the electronic analog exposure display accompanied by a display of the same exposure settings regardless of exposure and/or camera settings, or (2) is unable to focus automatically..." The D70 error condition is different: "...(1) when a memory card is inserted, your D70's memory card access lamp blinks, locking camera operations and preventing operation, or (2) with no memory card inserted, the camera will not turn on despite the battery indicator showing a fully charged battery..." |

| Sony has announced the Cyber-shot DSC-R1, a fixed-lens, electronic viewfinder camera with a 10.3-megapixel CMOS sensor that measures 21.5 x 14.4mm, nearly as large as the sensors in digital SLR cameras such as the Canon EOS 20D or the DX-format Nikons. Like nearly all non-SLR digicams it incorporates full-time color live video preview. The R1's fixed Carl Zeiss lens is a 24-120mm (35mm equivalent) f/2.4-4.8 zoom. |
