| The Japanese government will grant temporary visas to Thai workers employed by Japanese companies in Thailand affected by that country's devastating floods, notes an article in The Wall Street Journal. This will enable Thai nationals to work in Japan for about six months, presumably at hastily-established production facilities in the electronics, automotives and other industries whose factories and suppliers have been particularly hard hit by Thailand's worst flooding in 50 years. Significant flood waters did arrive over the weekend, swamping their facilities. He tested multiple copies of the same lens model on a single camera body, and autofocus accuracy with multiple camera bodies of the same model using a single lens. His results show detectable but not dramatic sample variation in the Canon and Zeiss products he tested. |

| Apple today has unveiled the iPhone 4S, and will ship it on October 14 in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the UK, France, Germany and Japan, with pre-ordering to begin October 7. Other countries will follow starting on October 28. The company has also set October 12 for the release of iOS 5, the next major iteration of the operating system for the company's range of mobile devices, as well as iCloud, their new online storage and syncing service, plus updated and iCloud-savvy versions of Keynote, Pages and Numbers for Mac. |
