Photographer and Mac performance expert Lloyd Chambers has teamed up with U.S. computer and accessory reseller Other World Computing (OWC) to offer an Apple Mac Pro configuration service for photographers called MPG Photo Workstation. Using components recommended by Chambers, says a press release, OWC "reconfigures a stock Mac Pro and delivers a ready-to-use workstation with enhanced performance and reliability features" such as higher performance internal hard drives or SSDs and an eSATA card for connection to external storage.
More information on the service is on Chambers' Mac Performance Guide site; the typical cost of the service, including parts, installation and configuration, ranges from about US$1270 to about US$4150, plus the base cost of the Mac Pro.
