| Nikon announces new 35mm f/1.4, 200mm f/2 |

And then there were nine. That's the total number of lenses Nikon has introduced in 2010, including the new AF-S 35mm f/1.4G and AF-S 200mm f/2G ED VR II, announced today.
With the introduction of the AF-S 35mm f/1.4G, Nikon has now updated all four of its f/1.4 aperture Nikkor lenses in about the past two years, starting with the AF-S 50mm f/1.4G in the fall of 2008.
The rear-focusing AF-S 35mm f/1.4G features 10 elements in seven groups including one aspherical element, a refined manual focus mechanism and two focus modes: M/A and M.
The AF-S 35mm f/1.4G is slated to ship in mid-November at a manufacturer's suggested list price (MSRP) of US$1799.95.
The
AF-S 200mm f/2G ED VR II is a rework of the fast aperture telephoto lens Nikon introduced in May 2004. It has been updated to four-stop VR II image stabilization with tripod detection and the focus mode switch now includes three options: M/A, M and the newly-added A/M (the new setting reduces the chance of unintentionally overriding the autofocus when grazing the focus ring accidentally).
Its optical construction consists of 13 elements in nine groups, including three ED elements and one Super ED element. The new 200mm f/2's overall size, weight and appearance is very close to the lens it replaces.
The AF-S 200mm f/2G ED VR II is to ship in October at an MSRP of US$5999.95.
