Over the course of last year, Canon sponsored a collaborative HD moviemaking project in the form of a contest, and the 38-minute film that resulted, called
"The Story Beyond the Still" has been finished and posted.
The film comprises eight "chapters", the first and last of which were shot on behalf of Canon by photographer Vincent Laforet, but the middle six chapters were open to contestants whose submissions were meant to pick up and continue the story where the previous chapter left off. Each chapter ended with an "evocative photograph" that inspired the next chapter, hence the film's title.
Although it was not mandated by the rules, every chapter in the finished film was shot with a Canon DSLR (specifically EOS 5D Mark II and EOS 7D cameras, as far as we could determine).
