Canon Europe has announced the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II lens, an update of the company's already existing consumer-oriented telephoto zoom with the same focal length/aperture specification. The new lens features exterior styling changes and, apparently, the addition of Canon's Super Spectra coating. 

The announcement from Canon Europe says the lens will become available in Europe in July, 2011. There is not yet any word on this new lens from Canon USA, but we'll update this post when there is.
