Zacuto has posted the first segment of "The Great Camera Shootout 2011". The shootout compares the performance of 11 different filmmaking cameras/media. These include Kodak 35mm motion picture film; "indie" video cameras such as the Arri Alexa, RED ONE Mysterium-X, Sony PMW-F3, and Panasonic AG-AF100; and DSLR cameras such as the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the Nikon D7000.
The first segment now posted is a 31-minute video that compares dynamic range and "usable latitude" of the tested cameras. The video features commentary from a wide array of professional cinematographers. Zacuto says that 772 people were involved in one way or another in the shooting and post-production of the 4-day series of tests that comprise the shootout.
