The
Dayton (Ohio, USA)
Business Journal reports that
Dayton Daily News Director of Photography Larry Price, who has won two Pulitzer Prizes for photojournalism, resigned last week. Price quit rather than carry out instructions to lay off half the newspaper's staff photographers.
Price won two photojournalism Pulitzers in the 1980s for his coverage of war and conflict in Africa and Central America. The
Business Journal article includes Price's observations on the way in which newspaper photojournalism in general, and at his paper in particular, has been degraded in recent years by belt-tightening and management culture changes in the newspaper business.
