Last week, Reuters published a photograph of a Libyan rebel fighter firing a rocket-propelled grenade, and the image drew immediate accusations that it was faked.
In a post on his blog, computer scientist Dr. Neal Krawetz has now published
an interesting analysis of the image that concludes it is authentic. Krawetz's post shows a number of examples of the analysis methods he uses to detect digital manipulation of images. In the comments on his post, he also links to
a similar analysis he did earlier on an advertising image that was clearly faked.
