| National Geographic: Crowd-funding photojournalism |
| Tuesday, October 11, 2011 | by Eamon Hickey |

The
National Geographic web site has posted a short interview with Tina Ahrens, COO of Emphas.is, the recently launched photojournalism crowd-funding service.
Like other crowd-funding organizations, Emphas.is publishes project proposals and seeks public contributions to the project, but Emphas.is focuses exclusively on photojournalism.
Ahrens says that 1 out of 2 Emphas.is projects reaches its funding goal. She compares that success rate to applying for traditional grants, which typically offer success rates of as little as 0.4-6% to any given applicant, according to Ahrens.
