Canon Europe has announced the Pixma Pro-1, a new 13-inch/A3+ professional inkjet printer that uses a new 12-color pigment inkset. An introductory article and a product description page have both been published on the Canon Professional Network web site.
The Pixma Pro-1 uses a new 12-color Lucia inkset with 5 monochrome inks, which yields an expanded color gamut, increased black density, and superior black-and-white prints, according to Canon.
The printer also features significantly increased speed and 2.5X larger ink tanks compared to the Pixma Pro 9500 Mark II, its nearest predecessor.
In Europe, the Pixma Pro-1 will be available starting in November 2011 and will sell for €899/£799.
Canon U.S.A. has not published any information on this new printer yet; we'll update this post with pricing and availability information when they do.
