Bertho Boman has posted an interesting page of Nikon D1 power drain statistics. It confirms what veteran D1 users will already know: the rear LCD monitor is a big power gobbler. Note that Boman's conclusion that autofocus does not significantly reduce battery life is not based on a test of long lens focusing or constant autofocus, as would be necessary to gauge battery drain during peak action sports photography.
