Scott Audette notes that page 18 of the December 24, 2001 issue of ESPN The Magazine features a vertical double-truck NFL football photo shot with the Canon EOS-1D. The heavily backlit ISO 320 Large Fine JPEG, taken by Pierre Ducharme on assignment for Reuters, was brightened in Photoshop to compensate for 2-3 stops of underexposure before it was transmitted over the wire. It was shot December 9 during the Detroit Lions - Tampa Bay Buccaneers matchup in Florida. Ducharme, a staffer at The Ledger in Lakeland, Florida, has recently migrated back to Canon after 2 years of shooting the Nikon D1. He took delivery of his first EOS-1D in early December.
