| SanDisk produces 1GB card |

Sandisk's 1GB CompactFlash Type I card is now in production and expected on store shelves in 1-2 weeks. Sandisk's card will be the first 3.3mm thick Type I CompactFlash card to reach 1GB; 1GB cards from Lexar Media and SimpleTech, which are already on the market, are the thicker 5.5mm Type II CompactFlash variant. The Sandisk 1GB card coming to market will feature their slower standard controller; a speedier Ultra version is planned, but a release date has not been set.
