Konica Minolta has announced the DiMAGE A2, an 8MP upgrade of the 5MP A1, an "SLR-type" digital camera with a fixed 28-200mm zoom lens (35mm format equivalent). The A2 uses the world's first VGA resolution (922,000 pixel) electronic viewfinder where an SLR's prism would normally be. The camera's extensive feature list compares favorably with many digital SLRs, and Konica Minolta claims improved autofocus speed and tracking compared to the A1. The company has not provided pricing or availability information, and its web site has not been updated with information on the A2.
