EMedia Live reports on the widening availability of 8X DVD recordable media and lists a handful of online vendors who have the discs in stock.
PCAdvisor has a brief article on the upcoming DVD+R double-layer recording technology, developed by Philips, which can pack 8.5GB of data onto a single DVD disc. Philips will launch an internal drive for the DVD+R DL format in April. (Ahead Software has announced that its Nero OEM DVD burning software now supports the DVD+R DL standard.)
The same PCAdvisor article notes that Philips is also planning to introduce a 16X DVD+R drive in July, which will cost 199 euros including VAT (presumably in the U.K.).
