Delkin has issued a statement today in which it apologizes for the lengthy delay in releasing a fully-functional Mac OS X driver for the CompactFlash version of its eFilm PRO CardBus 32 Adapter.

Mac compatibility had originally been promised for early in 2004; in the spring, Delkin revised this to late May 2004. A final release date has not been specified.

A Mac OS X beta driver is available on the Delkin web site, but it doesn't allow for hot-swapping of the adapter in and out of a Mac laptop. The CardBus 32 Adapter is, however, currently compatible with Windows. We tested the device for an article on this site in the fall of 2003.

The contents of the statement from Delkin CEO Martin Wood is below.

Statement  A Message from Delkin President and CEO Martin J. Wood 6/21/04 Late last year Delkin released the eFilm PRO CardBus 32 adapter. CardBus 32 is a revolutionary 32-bit PCMCIA adapter capable of transfer speeds 4 to 6 times faster than standard 16-bit PCMCIA adapters.  The CardBus 32 drivers were compatible with Windows only, at the time of its release, with Mac drivers available after the first of the year.  We have not yet delivered on this promise and still await the final release of Mac drivers for the CardBus 32 adapter. This warrants an apology and an explanation. First, I am sorry for any inconvenience anyone may have experienced because of this delay. Delkin has been in business since 1986 and we pride ourselves on our commitment to superior customer service.  This delay is an embarrassment. Our company has committed to deliver these drivers, and whatever the reason for the delay, I take full responsibility for them not being finished. Any customer that purchased a Delkin CardBus 32 adapter intending to use it with their Mac can return their unit for a full refund.  We've experienced unexpected delays in troubleshooting the beta Mac version we released earlier this year. We’re getting closer and expect to have final Mac drivers in the future, but want our loyal customers to know what is going on, and that we share their frustration over how long it is taking.
