PDNOnline has published dispatches from Najaf, Iraq written by Corbis photographer Thorne Anderson and by Kael Alford, a photojournalist with the Panos agency.
Anderson, along with writer Phillip Robertson, was trapped for several days in the Imam Ali Shrine in Najaf during the recent Mahdi Army uprising. Alford, who is Anderson's girlfriend, organized a convoy of journalists to drive through the front lines separating the opposing forces and bring Anderson and Robertson out.
