| Pentax to show 18.6-megapixel "645 medium-format" digital camera |

Pentax has announced that it will show an 18.6-megapixel digital camera at the Photo Imaging Expo (PIE) in Tokyo from March 17-20.
The company calls it a "645 medium-format" camera, but it's not clear if those film-era terms refer to the actual centimeter dimensions of the camera's Kodak-manufactured CCD or are simply meant to give an idea of the camera's design.
The new camera will use the Pentax 645 AF mount and will be compatible with existing smc Pentax 645 interchangeable lenses. It will be shown under glass at PIE, and no official launch date or price is available.
