Sportsshooter.com has published USA Today staff photographer Bob Deutsch's first look at the Canon WFT-E1a Wi-Fi transmitter for the EOS-1D Mark II, EOS-1Ds Mark II and EOS 20D cameras.

Deutsch reports on USA Today's experiences using it at The Oscars and details his findings, so far, about setting the various networking parameters and camera options involved in making the whole setup work. Deutsch and his colleagues have used the device both in Wi-Fi mode and in wired Ethernet setups.

Deutsch also provides some details on using the WFT-E1a with a Pocket PC running Idruna Software's Pocket Phojo and Pocket ITP, an FTP server for Pocket PCs written by Tom Sapiano.
