Canon today has released Digital Photo Professional 1.6.1 for Windows and Mac.
The new release incorporates functionality first introduced in 1.6 (the version of the software that shipped starting with the EOS Digital Rebel XT/350D), including a Stamp tool for cloning out dust spots, improved file renaming and support for RAW files from the Rebel XT/350D and D60.
In addition, v1.6.1 is meant to fix image processing and image display bugs found in v1.6 and earlier, including ones that impact multi-processor/hyperthreaded-processor PCs and multi-processor Macs.
The free, downloadable updater requires one of the following to be already present on the destination computer before Digital Photo Professional 1.6.1 will install:
- Any version of EOS Viewer Utility
- Any version of File Viewer Utility
- Any version of RAW Image Converter
- Any earlier version of Digital Photo Professional
The software is available via the Canon Web Self Service System (WSSS); we grabbed it from the Drivers/Software page for the EOS-1D Mark II.
