The 2005 Pulitzer Prizes for photography have been announced. The Breaking News Photography award went to the Associated Press staff for its coverage of Iraq. The Feature Photography award went to Deanne Fitzmaurice of the San Francisco Chronicle for a multi-part photo essay on a 9-year-old Iraqi boy who was brought to California to treat severe bomb wounds.
Online portfolios of the winning entries of both Fitzmaurice and the AP staff are available at the Pulitzer website, and PDNOnline has a report with additional quotes and background information.
