Associated Press, LPGA at odds over use of photos, stories

The Associated Press (AP) has refused to sign a credential form issued by the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) that imposes new restrictions on the use of photos and stories from LPGA events. The AP's photographer and reporter have consequently been denied access to the Fields Open golf tournament in Hawaii, and the wire service has chosen not to cover the event as a result.
In an AP story published on the USA Today website, AP officials express particular concern about the LPGA's desire to place restrictions on future publication of AP photos and the golfing organization's claim of rights to use those photos themselves.
