Microsoft has posted a collection of web pages to demonstrate a technology called Photosynth, which takes a  "large collection of photos of a place or object, analyzes them for similarities, and displays them in a reconstructed 3-Dimensional space," in the company's words.

It's not clear exactly what practical application this technology may have, but the relatively short demonstration video is worth a quick look if you're interested in cool ways to use and view photographs.
