Dell and Apple this month have announced large-scale recalls of the Lithium-Ion batteries used in certain laptop models. In both cases, the Sony-made packs can overheat and pose a fire hazard.
Apple
Apple is recalling about 1.8 million batteries used in its 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch Powerbook G4 and 15-inch PowerBook G4 computers. The affected batteries were sold worldwide from October 2003 through August 2006. Dell
Dell's recall is of 4.1 million batteries sold from April 1, 2004 through July 18, 2006. Numerous Dell laptops are affected. More information is linked to below.
