| Leica M8 to ship at end of November |

Leica first hinted at the development of a digital M-series rangefinder back in 2004; early in 2006 they began revealing some details of the new model. Now, the full story has emerged: called the M8, it features a 10.35 million image pixel CCD sensor with a focal length cropping factor of about 1.33X (relative to a 35mm film frame) and no low-pass filter, an ISO range of 160 to 2500, 2 fps shooting rate, RAW+JPEG shooting (RAW files are in the Adobe DNG format), SD card slot, M-TTL flash compatibility (plus a 1/250 maximum flash sync) and a 2.5 inch rear LCD.

The Leica M8 is slated for delivery at the end of November 2006. Leica has also announced two new M-series lenses, the ELMARIT-M 28mm f/2.8 ASPH and the three-focal-length TRI-ELMAR-M 16-18-21 mm f/4 ASPH.
