With a trend towards more news outlets using web-based slideshows with sound and video clips to present the news, the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) has launched a monthly online multimedia contest for its members. Entrants are encouraged to share their storytelling skills with their peers.

Contest entries require an URL to the multimedia show being submitted, a thumbnail reference photo for each entry and an NPPA member number. Entrants have the first 15 days of the month to enter up to three selections from the previous month. While the contest page currently describes three entry categories, there appear to be four in all:

• Individual Audio Slideshow
• Team Audio Slideshow
• Individual Video
• Team Video

A tally of the points earned from each monthly contest will determine an annual winner. Entries arriving for the current month of the contest can be viewed here.
