| New York Times issues correction for altered photo |

The New York Times published an altered photo of a building being washed away in Ridgefield, Conn. flooding on April 17. An Editor's Note indicates that a staff member, who is not a staff photographer, altered the photo which had a bright spot from a flash when the photo was taken through a train window. The wood on the side of the building was out of alignment due to the retouching. In a related story, the NPPA president condemned the conduct of Toledo Blade photographer Allan Detrich who doctored 79 images since the beginning of 2007. NPPA president Tony Overman reminds all of its members of the NPPA Code of Ethics.
