This month, both Epson in North America and HP have announced new 13-inch carriage desktop photo printers that use pigment-based inks. The
Epson Stylus Photo R1900 is a seven-ink printer with gloss optimizer, while the HP Photosmart Pro B8850 is an eight-ink printer that includes the many of the features of the
HP Photosmart Pro B9180 but at a lower price.
The Epson Stylus Photo R1900 was first unveiled in 2007 in European and other markets.
