Canon unveils Cinema EOS product line
Thursday, November 3, 2011 | by Rob Galbraith
Canon has unveiled Cinema EOS, a new line of products geared towards filmmakers. Anchoring the new line is the EOS C300, a "digital cinema" camera that features an 8.29-megapixel Super 35mm-equivalent CMOS sensor that's purpose-built for cinematography. It will come in both Canon EF and PL mounts. The company has also introduced five EF Cinema lenses: two zooms that cover from 14.5mm to 300mm (and will ship in EF and PL mount versions), plus three fixed focal lengths equipped with EF mounts.

Canon has posted extensive footage shot with the EOS C300 by working filmmakers.

Canon has also revealed the development of a new digital SLR that incorporates "an enhanced version of the video-capture capability offered in the current EOS-series lineup." It will be able to record 4K-resolution video at 24fps and appears to be based on the EOS-1D X body.
