Photographers launch fundraising effort for children of photojournalist Anton Hammerl
Tuesday, September 13, 2011 | by Eamon Hickey
A large group of well-known photographers have donated images to be sold in a fundraising effort for the three children of South African photojournalist Anton Hammerl, who was killed last April while covering the civil war in Libya as a freelancer.

The initiative is sponsored by the non-profit Reporters Without Borders. It has set up a web site where prints are being offered for sale from a range of well-known photographers, including David Burnett, Kenneth Jarecke, Joćo Silva, Greg Marinovich, and many others. Direct donations are also being accepted, and all proceeds go to benefit Hammerl's children, who range in age from 6 months to 11 years old.
