Innovtronix has announced that the release of the Tronix Explorer XT3, a portable power pack for studio flash the company announced earlier this year, has been delayed. It will now ship in January 2012.

The specifications for Innovatronix's new portable power flagship have been improved since the unit's details were first unveiled back in April. The XT3 is now comprised of a pure sine wave inverter rated at 800 watts (continuous), rather than 650 watts.

As before, it contains twin 12VDC/9Ah SLA batteries in a 24lb/11kg case, plus it retains the familiar rectangular box shape of the earlier Tronix Explorer 1200 and Tronix Explorer XT/XT SE models, though the XT3's metal shell has been reworked with an improved handle and end pieces.

Other features include dual AC output sockets, an auxiliary battery connector, both 90-240 VAC and 12-14VDC input sockets for charging the battery (the latter is for use with the included car charger), a charge time of three to five hours and an always-on cooling fan. It will be available in both 120VAC and 230VAC output versions.

The price of the Tronix Explorer XT3 had been set at US$590 when purchased direct from Innovatronix. With the specification change, however, the price is now being reevaluated and will be announced closer to the new ship date.
