RAW file support updated in Portfolio 8
Wednesday, April 12, 2006 | by Rob Galbraith

Extensis has updated the RAW file support in Portfolio 8 for both Windows and Mac, as well as added a new file filter that enables the Windows version of Portfolio to catalog Microsoft Word and Excel documents.

Support for the cataloging of RAW files from 22 additional digital cameras and digital backs, including newer models from Canon, Nikon and Leaf, is the main change in RAW Filter 3.0, a plug-in for Portfolio 8. As with previous iterations of the RAW Filter for Portfolio, RAW Filter 3.0 has been developed by Bibble Labs for Extensis. It's a free update for licensed Portfolio 8 users, and is available for both Mac and Windows versions of the image management software. Newly-supported cameras are:

  • Canon EOS 5D
  • Canon EOS-1D Mark II N
  • Epson R-D1
  • Konica-Minolta Maxxum 5D
  • Konica-Minolta Maxxum A200
  • Leaf Valeo 11
  • Leaf Valeo 17
  • Leaf Valeo 22
  • Leaf Aptus 17
  • Leaf Aptus 22
  • Leaf Aptus 65
  • Leaf Aptus 75
  • Nikon D50
  • Nikon D70s
  • Nikon D200
  • Olympus E500
  • Olympus SP310
  • Olympus SP350
  • Olympus SP500UZ
  • Pentax *ist DL
  • Pentax *ist DS2
  • Sony DSC-R1

RAW files from over 80 cameras are now supported in Portfolio 8 (both the client and server versions). RAW Filter 3.0 is not compatible with earlier releases of Portfolio. Extensis has also released Microsoft Office Word & Excel Filter 1.0, which adds support for these document types to Portfolio 8 for Windows.
