Lexar this morning announced two new CompactFlash cards readers, one designed to connect to a FireWire 400 port, the other, USB 2.0. Both feature a single CompactFlash Type I/II slot covered by a protective end cap that slides forward and doubles as a stand when perched on a desktop.

Included with each is a removable cable The cable included with the FireWire reader is described in a Lexar press release as being an "ultra thin" type with a 6-pin connector at each end. The connector on the USB reader is either a B or Mini-B type, based on a description of it from a Lexar representative.
Both the Lexar FireWire CF Reader and USB 2.0 CF Reader are to ship within the next two weeks, with approximate street prices of US$50 and US$25, respectively, in the US.
