Elinchrom releases RQ Li-Ion Battery for Ranger Quadra
Monday, July 2, 2012 | by Rob Galbraith
Elinchrom has announced that the RQ Li-Ion Battery for the Ranger Quadra portable flash system is now available. Compared to the standard sealed lead acid battery, the new Lithium-based unit is promised to deliver more than double the number of full power pops while also being less than half the weight. It's said to charge faster and provide faster recycle times too.

The RQ Li-Ion Battery is rated for 320 full power pops, weighs 1.6lb/0.73kg, includes a push-button battery life indicator and fuse storage within the battery itself and recharges in about 90 minutes. The companion charger is a multi-voltage type for worldwide use.

While officially available, checks of several online photo retailers in both the U.S. and Europe show the RQ Li-Ion Battery as either not yet in stock or not yet listed for sale, suggesting it may take some time for the new product to work its way into inventory at Elinchrom dealers.
