Visible Dust's Fariborz Degan indicates that a dispute with their now-former web site hosting provider, combined with a snafu at their new host, has taken www.visibledust.com offline since late on November 18, 2004.
Degan, the man at the helm of the Edmonton, Canada-based company that makes products for cleaning digital SLR camera image sensors, expects that their site will be back in operation and accepting orders again early in the week of November 22, 2004.
In a phone conversation this afternoon, he emphasized that the site's downtime is not an indicator that the Visible Dust company is closing, as has been speculated in some Internet forums. Quite the opposite, says Degan: they have recently hired more staff to help manage the increase in orders for their products.
The site's problems did not result in any orders being lost, though they are without a user-friendly method for accepting new orders until the site is back up, says Degan. He notes that all orders received up to the point the site went down (including a recent backlog of orders), will be shipped by the end of November 22, 2004.
Update, 11:00 PM MT: a temporary web site, www.visibledust.ca, has been brought online. This site will handle all orders and other Visible Dust business until www.visibledust.com returns to the airwaves.
