Zacuto publishes video primer on digital SLR "double system" audio
Thursday, May 28, 2009 | by Rob Galbraith
Video camera accessory maker and reseller Zacuto has published an interesting primer on recording audio using a mobile field recorder, to accompany video captured with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II or other digital SLR.

The video piece, which runs over 13 minutes, focuses on the new Zoom H4n, a slick-looking field recorder capable of capturing sound from two built-in mics and two external mics simultaneously. Also demonstrated is how to replace a digital SLR's audio track with sound recorded by the H4n, using Apple's Final Cut Pro.

You can watch the video below, or at higher resolution on the Vimeo website.

More information on the Zoom H4n is here. The Zound Hotshoe #Z-ZND-H mount shown in the video is here (note that it looks like this arrangement will restrict or prevent getting your eye up to the camera's optical viewfinder to shoot still photos). A CNET review of the Zoom H4n, with sound samples, is here.
