C1 apps gain support for EOS Digital Rebel/300D; Nikon support in Mac version pushed back to May 2004
Friday, February 13, 2004 | by Eamon Hickey

Phase One has announced upcoming releases of C1 PRO and C1 SE for Windows and Macintosh OS X that will bring the Mac version's range of RAW file support much closer to even with the Windows version, as well as expand RAW file support for both versions to include additional Nikon, Fujifilm, and Olympus cameras.

On or before February 17, 2004, Phase One will release C1 PRO and C1 SE v1.3.1 for Windows and v1.2.3 for Mac OS X. The new release for Windows adds support for Canon EOS Digital Rebel/300D RAW files. The Macintosh update adds RAW file support for the Digital Rebel/300D as well as the EOS 10D, D60, and D30. Nikon digital SLR support will not be rolled into this update for the Mac as originally planned.

Both the C1 PRO and C1 SE updates include a new "film high contrast" tone curve, which offers a more saturated and contrasty "JPEG look", according to the company.

In the same press release that announces these updates, Phase One indicates that additional versions of C1 PRO and C1 SE for both Windows and Macintosh will be released in May 2004 with RAW file support for the Nikon D2H, D70, D100, D1H, D1X and the Fujifilm S2 Pro. (Currently, C1 PRO/SE support the D100 and D1X only, and only on Windows.)

Support for Olympus RAW files is promised "soon after" that, while support for the Canon EOS-1D Mark II is also in the works but no release date has been set.

The updates will be posted on the C1 DSLR web site. Phase One has also announced Portrait One Sales for Windows, an application based on C1 PRO but with a modified interface.
