AP: Can film hang on?
Tuesday, May 31, 2011 | by Eamon Hickey
The Associated Press has published a story on the dwindling use of film. Citing research from the U.S. Photo Marketing Association (PMA), the article says that U.S. film sales (single rolls of film plus single-use film cameras) have fallen by almost 95% to about 50 million units from a peak of 950 million in 2000. PMA also believes that U.S. non-disposable film camera sales may fall below 100,000 units this year, about a 99.5% decline from the 19.7 million film cameras sold in 2000.
