Tuesday, April 26, 2011 | by Rob Galbraith
Nikon has officially unveiled the AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G, an update of the classic kit lens back in the days when film ruled the roost.

The 2011 version features seven lens elements in six groups (including one aspherical element), Silent Wave autofocus with M-M/A switch, an aperture range of f/1.8-16, rounded (seven-blade) aperture diaphragm, a close focus distance of 1.48ft/45cm and a 58mm filter size.

It comes with Bayonet Hood HB-47 and Flexible Lens Pouch CL-1013. The AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G is to ship mid-June at an expected street price of US$219.95 in the U.S.
