ASMP: U.S. TSA carry-on baggage allowance for photo gear
Wednesday, December 10, 2003 | by Eamon Hickey

Photographers who travel on U.S. airlines take note: The American Society of Media Photographers reports that the U.S. Transportation Safety Administration has agreed to allow photographers one extra carry-on bag if it contains photographic equipment. The extra bag must conform to standard carry-on size and weight regulations, and the privilege is subject to available space on the airplane.

The report is confirmed on this page of the TSA's web site.
