Extreme weather shooter Jim Reed among those featured on Nikon D700 site

Electrifying: A photo by Jim Reed taken with the D700 and featured in Nikon's D700 gallery
Jim Reed, a Wichita, Kansas-based photographer specializing in the shooting of extreme weather, is among a small group featured in the D700 section of the Nikon Imaging global website.

In a posting on his website, Reed says that in early 2008 he was contacted by representatives from Nikon in Tokyo, who asked him to try out a preproduction D700, assess its durability and ultimately supply photos they could publish at the time of the camera's launch.

He agreed, and an early D700 body was hand-delivered to him that spring: "I worked covertly with the camera April 3-May 31, 2008, -- 105 days, 8,830 miles, and more than 200 severe weather warnings, and I can honestly say, this is a terrific camera."

Reed's photos, and a video of him in action, are in the Landscape section of the Flash-based D700 gallery here (along with wedding/portrait photos by Cherie Steinberg Coté and travel photos by Doug Menuez). His own gallery of photos taken with the D700 is here.
