Mount Adapter FT1 for Nikon 1 J1 and V1 nearing release (updated)
Wednesday, December 14, 2011 | by Rob Galbraith
Mount Adapter FT1, an accessory that enables F-mount Nikkor lenses to be attached to a Nikon 1 J1 or V1 mirrorless camera, is slated to ship towards the end of next week in the U.S., Canada, Japan and probably other countries too.

Yesterday, Nikon released firmware updates for the J1 and V1 that incorporate support for the new accessory.

The company has also published detailed information on the basic capabilities and limitations of Mount Adapter FT1 (including the fact that the only autofocus mode that can be used is static-subject AF-S; autofocus tracking of a moving subject won't be possible), the Nikkor lenses that are expected to be compatible as well as a detailed table describing the camera operating modes and settings available when the FT1 is in use.

Mount Adapter FT1 is to arrive in stores starting on December 22, 2011 in the U.S., Canada, Japan and presumably other locales as well. In Canada, it has a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of CDN$269.95. Its price in Japan, when ordered from Nikon's direct sales site, is 19,814, which is about US$254 at today's exchange rates. Nikon USA has pegged the MSRP at US$269.97.
