Lexar Media's firmware fix for the D1 startup delay is to begin full compatibility testing tomorrow, with few if any hiccups expected.
If testing goes well, the company plans to begin updating customer cards as early as next week. Individuals will be able to send their cards to Lexar's Fremont, California facility for updating, with the company promising a 24 hour turnaround time. Organizations with many cards will be able to do the same, or work out an alternate plan with a tech support representative for receiving the update.
Once Lexar is set to roll out the firmware update, I will post a story with details on the RMA procedures Lexar has established. For more information on the problem this update is designed to fix, see the January 16 story Lexar Media solves D1 startup delay.
