New Canon factory to make CMOS sensors for compact digital cameras

Canon has commenced construction of a CMOS sensor factory in Japan that will give it the capacity to begin producing sensors for some of its compact digital cameras, says a Reuters article. The factory, which is being built near the company's existing facility in Kanagawa Prefecture, is slated to begin sensor production in July 2008.
