New digital photo workflow software, PhotoDirector, available in beta
Tuesday, May 31, 2011 | by Eamon Hickey
Taiwanese software developer CyberLink has posted a downloadable beta version of a new digital photography workflow application for Windows called PhotoDirector 2011.

PhotoDirector offers features for managing, editing, and sharing images and is clearly intended to serve a purpose similar to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom or Apple Aperture. It differs from those programs in that it uses the official Software Development Kits (SDKs) from Canon and Nikon to develop RAW files from those companies' cameras, meaning it should provide the same color and other image qualities offered by the camera maker software. It appears that RAW files from other brands are not supported.

Users of the beta will be eligible to receive the full release version for free in exchange for providing feedback on the software by June 20, 2011. A license will apparently cost US$99.95 when the software becomes commercially available in June. PhotoDirector 2011 is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP SP3 or higher.

More information is in the press release below.
