The Canon EOS 5D appears to be landing at dealers in parts of Europe, based on the number of enthusiastic first-use reports we've received since September 24, 2005 from photographers in the UK, France and Germany. We've also heard from two pro photo retailers in Canada that their initial allotments of Canon's newest double-digital megapixel digital SLR are to arrive today (along with the first EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM stock also).
In the U.S., shipping of the EOS 5D is still expected to commence next week, says Chuck Westfall, Director of Media & Customer Relationship at Canon USA. This is on target with the early October 2005 release planned for the camera in the U.S.
Update, September 28, 2005: We've received several reports of the 5D landing ahead of schedule at dealers in the U.S. this week, including at pro retailer powerhouse B&H in New York (earlier today, their web site began listing the camera as being in stock).
