The CompactFlash Performance Database has been updated to include two new cameras. Joining the Database are the Canon EOS Digital Rebel/300D and the Pentax * ist D, both production models with production firmware.
Canon's latest digital SLR offers similar overall write speed performance to the EOS 10D. This isn't surprising, given the two models are derived from many of the same digital components.
The Pentax *ist D results are typical of an entry-level digital SLR these days, with fairly modest write speeds across a range of CompactFlash cards. Curiously, though Pentax has announced support for Lexar's Write Acceleration (WA) technology in the *ist D, Lexar's WA-enabled cards don't enjoy a noticeable speed boost in the unit we tested.
The CompactFlash Performance Database contains background information and benchmarks for dozens of CompactFlash cards in 15 different digital SLR models from Canon, Fuji, Kodak, Nikon and Pentax.
