Wednesday, October 12, 2005 | by Eamon Hickey

Both and PDNOnline have recently published accounts of the experiences of photojournalists covering Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath.

The stories in include an article by New York Times staff photographer Vincent Laforet on handling the emotional and psychological impact of covering disasters and a piece by Justin Sullivan of Getty Images that details some of his experiences shooting Katrina's aftermath.

PDNOnline's story is an overview of the efforts and experiences of the photo staff of the New Orleans Times-Picayune during and after the hurricane. The Times-Picayune published an edition every day despite having to abandon its offices and printing plant in New Orleans.
